Enjoy your library books! Record your reading on your reading log that was handed out in class yesterday. Reading logs are due Friday, 8/12 with a total of 250 minutes for three weeks of reading.
Please bring a second composition book/spiral notebook for class Monday. We will be using them for our new grammar warm-ups. These notebooks will remain in the classroom.
Test tomorrow on "The Three Century Woman" and "The Treasure of Lemon Brown." Review pages 12, 13, and 14 in notebook. The following terminology will be used on the test: direct characterization, fiction, nonfiction, setting, narrator, motivation, character traits, universal theme, conflict, and climax. See page 10 in your notebook for many of these definitions.

Complete front side of grammar handout, "Improving Short Sentences." Due tomorrow. You do NOT have to follow the directions in parenthesis for each exercise. I am looking for students to add details in exercise 1 and to combine the sentences in exercise 2. This is just a basic review.
