Welcome to Week 4! I have assigned a set of paired texts on our ReadWorks classroom for the week. Each article is followed by a set of comprehension questions (multiple choice and short answer), which you will answer online.
If you have not yet joined the classroom, you will need to follow the instructions in last week's post before you can complete the homework. If you are having trouble joining the classroom but do not want to get behind, please come to me for help, and under special circumstances, I can print the article set for you.

We will use ReadWorks throughout the year for in-class reading comprehension practice, as well as for homework passages. Each assigned passage is followed by a set of comprehension questions, both multiple choice and short answer, which can be submitted though Google Forms. Please follow the instructions below to join your class period!
Instructions for joining your class:
1. Go to www.readworks.org/student
2. Click the option to sign in with Google.
3. Sign in with your Google account.

Tomorrow's SMART Block priority list will be students who have not completed the setting and character activities from last week. If you want to escape SMART Block with me tomorrow, complete these activities tonight! :)

Classwork/Projects/Papers: Each day work is late, 25 points will be deducted from the total points earned on the assignment until no points remain.
Due Date: No deduction
Late 1 Day: 25 pts off of total points earned.
Late 2 Days: 50 pts off of total points earned.
Late 3 Days: 75 pts off of total points earned.
Bottom Line: Do your work and turn it in on time. You will have no problems! :)

I will frequently post classwork assignments here in order to save paper and to allow students to complete their work on a device at school. Students are able to "comment" on my posts (this is where they will submit work), but will not be able to post anything themselves.

Hello! I enjoyed our first week of the school year and I loved getting to know my students. My Language Arts blog is where you will find information about homework, class assignments and resources you will need throughout this school year.
Generally, homework will be posted on Monday and is due on Friday. Homework will usually take the form of an Article of the Week or Poem of the Week, along with a written response. Whenever possible, I will post the article or poem to assist students who are going to be absent in the early part of the week. We will often devote time in class on Fridays to discussing the homework, therefore students must be prepared in order to participate.
**IMPORTANT** It is my expectation that all students have independent reading material with them each day to use in the event that they finish their classwork with time to spare. This material can be a traditional book, magazine article, graphic novel, or any other publication that is appropriate and of interest to the student.
