Most of the "loose ends" in powerschools have been taken care of. Please review your son's or daughter's scores and let me know if you have a specific question. Interims will be sent home the first week in May.
Monday 7/1 students will be completing a series a stations designed and implemented to introduce students to the main human body systems we will now study in detail. The series of stations each had a model, a video of real organ function, and an interactive website about the body system. The station exploration assignment is worth a classwork grade-5 days at 20 points each. Please ask you son or daughter about their score. I review their work daily and note each day's points on their work accountability sheet. Friday April 28th 7/1 students will be taking the 7th grade common assessment entitled, human body interpreting data quiz. Although challenging this assessment score should score A or B, all the answer are on the quiz in charts, graphs, diagrams. Homework this upcoming week will require students to watch and submit the graded quiz for the circulatory system. In addition, students will need to do this week's Discovery Ed video review/notes on the following topics: Mechanical energy 1:05, work 4:25, Real world science: simple machines 15:12, and conclusion :30. All of this week's homework is due at the beginning of class on Friday. In school support with this week's homework will be offered on Tuesday during smartblock. The science final is May 24th.

MANY 7/1 students have missing grades in powerschools. A zero is recorded until the work is completed. I did update the information in powerschools Thursday-genetic unit test part one, genetics unit test part two, genetics review crossword and review punnett squares.
Due Friday at or before 7:30 am-watch the brainpop entitled-Human body. Submit the graded quiz. Score must be 7 out of 10 or higher. Due by Monday 4/24 (some may wish to do this over the weekend)-watch the following first quarter review video segments in Discovery Education-Friction 7:19, Calculating average speed 5:06, Roller coasters 4:07, Electricity 3:59, Energy transfer 2:21 and Constant speed 5:23. On notebook paper identify the video segment and bullet 3 take away understandings. In school support for the completion of the DE review assignment will be offered this week during my Tuesday and Thursday smartblocks. Powerschools has been updated for last week.
Please note: all 7/1 students have a large unit test on Thursday 4/13. Several in school study support options will be offered this week. All students on the team should view the Bill Nye video entitled Genes. The video does an excellent job reviewing SEVERAL important key concepts. Viewing the video in school was offered last Friday during smartblock and will be offered Tuesday and Wednesday. All students need to attend a session. During class on both Tuesday and Wednesday I will be doing teacher directed test review. Full/active participation will help understanding, please encourage this at home. Monday classwork needs to be completed before joining review games. 2 homework sheets will be handed out to provide students the chance to practice punnett squares and recall of key genetics concepts. They will both be due Thursday 4/13. Engaging the sheets independently or with a peer are their intentional purpose. |
